Jillian Michaels Weight Loss Empire

Jillian Michaels, most well known as a tough-as-nails fitness expert on the television show "The Biggest Loser," has found herself defending her weight loss empire in the midst of a legal battle.

Jillian was born in California and was introduced to health and fitness because she had issues with her own weight during her teenage years. Jillian's mother enrolled her in a martial arts class, and this was a critical turning point in her life. Jillian then decided to dedicate her life to helping others lose weight through techniques such as weight training, yoga, Pilates, and kickboxing.

With her increased popularity, Jillian released several books, dvd's, and games. She eventually got her biggest break in 2004 by coming on board as a personal trainer on NBC's "The Biggest Loser. In 2009 NBC made an announcement of their plans to create a similar reality show with Jillian called "Losing it With Jillian."

Jillian recently introduced her own line of diet supplements called "Jillian Michaels Maximum Strength Calorie Control." The main ingredient in the pills is guarana, an herb that contains caffeine and is touted as an energy booster. The supplement also contains several other high-caffeine ingredients such as coffee bean and kola nut seed extract. Another ingredient of concern is citrus aurantium, an herb that has caused high blood pressure and cardiac issues in rare cases. The diet supplement claims to promote weight loss by controlling appetite so that the portions eaten are generally smaller.

Since Jillian released her supplements, she has found herself the target of three lawsuits to date. 3 women are contending that Jillian used her celebrity by teaming up with a research company to promote the diet pills in question, when they knowingly did not work. They also feel Jillian's endorsement influenced their decision to buy a product that failed to deliver any results.

In the most recent development, Jillian is firing back with a lawsuit of her own. She has filed a defamation lawsuit in response to a comment Creer's attorney made. That attorney, Melissa Harnett, stated Jillian's pills are deceiving because they claim taking two of them per day will allow a dieter to eat chocolate cake all day. Jillian responded that her product never claimed to be a cake buster, and she considers all claims against her product baseless. She asserts the pills well studied before she ever put her name on them.

So how does the Flat Belly Diet Work?

The diet is based around a type of beneficial fat known as monounsaturated fat or (MUFA).
